Brief Academic Bio

I received my undergraduate degree from Santa Clara University in 1988 and my Ph.D. from M.I.T. in 1993. My graduate thesis developed a topological version of toric varieties over the real numbers and quaternions and was under the supervision of Professor Robert MacPherson. After a one-year post-doc at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, I spent three years at The Ohio State University as a Zassenhaus Assistant Professor, then joined the faculty at Santa Clara University in 1997.
